Sliding Fee Discount Program
The Sliding Fee Discount Program (SFDP) is designed to minimize financial barriers
to care for those who have no means, or limited means, to pay for their healthcare, including the uninsured and underinsured. The SFDP follows the most current Federal Poverty Guidelines and is updated annually to determine eligibility.
The Artesian Valley Health System Rural Health Clinics located in Meade, Montezuma, and Plains KS offers the SFDP to all patients who are unable to pay for their services. Additionally. The early detection of collectable balances can have a positive impact on the overall patient experience by reducing unnecessary anxiety over anticipated financial responsibilities that are ultimately discounted or completely resolved through the SFDP.
How the Program Works
This program is designed to help eligible patients receive accessible, affordable, quality care. Determination of eligibility is contingent upon a patient’s ability to pay for services based up household/family size and annual income and will not discriminate based on age, gender, race, sexual orientation, creed, religion, disability, or national origin. Lack of insurance and/or insurance coverage will not be a determining factor when assessing qualifications. Dignity and confidentiality will be respected for all who seek or receive charitable services. To determine eligibility, we follow a schedule of discounts based upon the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Poverty Income Guidelines published annually in the Federal Registry.
The Sliding Fee Discount Program is applicable only to services rendered at our AVHS Rural Health Clinics and does not apply to services rendered at other facilities including the Meade District Hospital.
