Meade, Kansas – May 8,  2025 – Artesian Valley Health System (AVHS) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Artesian Valley Health System Healthcare Scholarship, granted to exceptional high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to careers in healthcare.

 

This year’s scholarships have been awarded to students from three area high schools: Meade High School, Southwestern Heights High School, and South Gray High School. Each recipient will receive financial support to pursue higher education in health-related fields.

 

The 2025 scholarship recipients are:

 

Samadhee Wickramaarachchige, Meade High School – Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology following a Pre-Medical Track at the University of Kansas.

 “My motivation for pursuing a degree in healthcare is my desire to help others. At the end of the day, I know that my efforts have a positive impact on a different person’s life.”

 

Jackie Cameron DeLaTorre, Southwestern Heights High School – Pursuing nursing at Seward County Community College.

“I’ve always had a deep desire to work with newborns, and the idea of caring for the most vulnerable patients and supporting their families feels like the most meaningful work I could ever do.”

 

Cameron Patrick Wahl, South Gray High School – Pursuing Biochemistry at Friends University.

“I have seen first-hand the impact that dedicated healthcare professionals can have on research and patient outcomes. This has instilled in me a sense of purpose and a desire to contribute to the betterment of society through healthcare, science, and compassion.”

 

The AVHS Healthcare Scholarship, now in its fourth year, was created to eliminate financial barriers and support students pursuing careers in healthcare.
